We have been told that the Fielding family is taking the time to mull over and consider this opportunity. We intend to go silent while they make this decision. We've done our part and planted a seed.
It is now up to you. If you're a fan/friend/ally of Scott you need to reach out and share your thoughts with him.
Based on a couple emails we've received there are lots of options for the councillor who promised to only serve 2 terms. First and foremost there appears to be one or two folks who want him to run for mayor. They wanted this campaign shutdown because they're afraid it could succeed and the centre-right coalition would be back to square one for finding a replace for Mayor Katz.
Somebody else suggested no politicians in West Winnipeg will want to do anything prior to the Charleswood-St James-Headingley nomination. Mavis Taillieu, Myrna Driedger, Scott, Grant Nordman, Paula Havixbeck... all of them would be ideal candidates for the biggest political prize: a safe seat in parliament.
Good luck to Scott in whichever venture he chooses, we just hope he chooses the right one. To clarify, we hope he chooses to run for Leader.
Winnipeg City Councillor Scott Fielding needs to run for leader of the PC Party of Manitoba. He has the experience and the know-how to lead. He is electable. He can be Premier. A lifelong Tory he knows the work needed to get us across the finish line in 2014. Email your support. Be a Facebook friend. Follow us on Twitter. Make it happen.

Encouragement
Folks, don't forget: this is all about encouraging Scott to run. That only works if you leave comments, send emails etc.
You can email Scott directly. sfielding@winnipeg.ca and that's all. Just tell him you respect what he has done and want him to take it to the next level.
We might very well be the first "draft" movement in the history of politics that has no involvement from the guy we're drafting. Let's show Scott the upswell of support that'll make him realize that his party needs him!

Sunday Updates
So, today we learned that when you add 1,000 people to Twitter it gets you noticed. By the chattering class and by Twitter's bots. We're working to fix it.
In the meantime we'll do some build-up of the Facebook page.
We're not down, we're far from out. We're just technologically out of our league.
Here's another thought for today:
Scott, as leader, knows exactly how much the province has screwed over municipal government in Manitoba. How Selinger as Finance Minister and now Premier has made local politicians beg and plead for every dime of the funding they desperately need. And why? Because Selinger wants to give pay bumps to all his union pals in the civil service instead of fixing infrastructure.
Spending under the NDP has increased by $5 BILLION a year and our highways, sewers and parks are in worse shape then ever. Let's get somebody into opposition who knows about the secret deficit crippling our province. To be clear, the secret deficit is the multi-billion dollar infrastructure deficit.
Now imagine its 2015 and the election results have come in. You're standing with 1,000 other Manitobans in a ballroom chanting "Scott! Scott! Scott!" as the new Premier walks into the room.
P.S. we have removed all restrictions from our comments section. Feel free to start bickering.

Winnipeg Sun
The Winnipeg Sun has picked up on our movement to get Scott to start thinking about doing what makes sense: become leader of PC Manitoba!!
Find Paul Turenne's article here.
Scott's quotes indicate that he hasn't give this much thought. More reason to encourage him! We need somebody who doesn't sit around conspiring and plotting and imagining their greatness. Scott has been busy and focussed on getting things done.
Email Scott at sfielding@winnipeg to let him know you want him to step to the plate!

A Great Start
Several messages of support came in today. Lots of folks visited the blog. It was a great example of the power of Twitter. Traffic on this blog was minimal all week. Turned hot with some "tweets" today.
Let's all keep mulling over the idea of Scott Fielding as a future Premier. And let's relax like Scott would want us to on this holiday weekend.

The Cubs
Cubs fans have heart. They never surrender. Scott is a Cubs fan. Can't go wrong with somebody who just won't quit. Right?
Three things Scott will bring:
- Proven ability to win
- Sticking to convictions
- The ability to build a broad coalition

Mayor or Premier
Scott promised to only serve 2 terms on councillor. He isn't the kind've politician that wants to get elected in 1982 and linger past his best before date. He wants to contribute ideas and make things better. Then move on.
Because of this pledge a lot of folks assume Scott will run for Mayor in 2014.
We think he should run for leader. If (or rather WHEN) he wins October 27, 2011 he will move into a better job. A job that will allow him to make Winnipeg and ALL the communities of Manitoba better.
Don't waste yourself on being Mayor Scott. Save yourself for Manitobans to elect as Premier in 2015.

A regular family man
2 beautiful daughters and a new baby boy. Scott is happily married and has thrived as a father. He has juggled the business of being an elected official with his obligations to family. He shares this trait with so many regular Manitobans. He gets what makes us tick: the desire to make a better place for our kids.

Success leads to success
A lifelong Winnipegger Scott didn't have to leave town to learn what a great place Manitoba is. A beautiful wife of francophone roots from rural Manitoba has shown him even more of the greatness our province offers.
He went to UofM and after graduating worked for a number of cabinet ministers where he learned the ins and outs of government. Scott was always known as one of the hardest working staffers. It was no surprise when he left that he was a success in his field of business.
Scott has also learned from his wife's experiences owning a successful local retailer.
Committment and dedication to our province. Scott has lived it and shares it with regular Manitobans. No need for $1,000 suits and expensive makeovers to make Scott seem "real". He already is real.

The Picture of Leadership
Winning Ways
Proven results. The civic ward of St. James-Brooklands is not exactly a bastion of right-wing voters. By taking a common sense, no nonsense approach Scott Fielding won 48% of the vote in 2006 in a 4 way race. In 2010 he gave strong opponent (and 2011 rookie MLA) Deanne Crothers a lesson in the power of hardwork in the constituency.
Scott will develop conservative, principled policies that will enable the PC Party of Manitoba to reach out to constituents in St. Norbert, Kirkfield Park, Southdale, Seine River, St. James, Riel. He'll make sense to working class Manitobans who are tired of crime and runaway taxes.

We NEED a leader
Left and right. Business and labour. All sides agree that Scott Fielding has emerged as a true leader in an often divided city council. He never hides his small-c conservative take on issues. And that makes him trusted by all sides. He calls 'em like he sees 'em. 24/7 construction, photo radar, arson task forces, improved policing, holding the line on taxes, cutting red tape. Scott Fielding has been on council for only 5 years but has done more than most do in 20. He has jumped forward to lead. The PC Party of Manitoba needs him to take on the challenge for us.
